Hilton has set specific targets for reducing its environmental impact, such as reducing carbon emissions by 61% by 2030 and reducing water consumption by 50% by 2030. The company has been recognized for its sustainability efforts by organizations such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, the Carbon Disclosure Project, and the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Hilton Tangier City Center's Contribution

The hotel industry has a significant impact on the environment, and reducing its environmental footprint is critical. Hilton Tangier City Center has taken several measures to reduce our environmental impact, including reducing the use of plastic, waste, and carbon emissions. However, these measures can be challenging, especially in areas where the availability of goods is limited, such as in Cabo Verde.

At Hilton Tangier City Center we want to support the Tangierian community by organizing social actions, donations, training, and collaborating with local projects that have a sustainable impact on the city.

Plastic Reduction

Reducing plastic has become an urgent global priority due to the significant negative impact that plastic waste has on the environment. Plastic pollution is a severe threat to the health of our oceans, wildlife, and ecosystems, and it also poses a risk to human health.

At Hilton Tangier City Center, we are compromised on reducing the use of plastic as much as possible. Therefore, we try to reduce as much as possible our plastic use by providing all of our guests with glass water bottles in all restaurants, and the bar. All avoidable plastic items such as plastic straws and takeaway containers are plastic-free.

Food Waste Reduction

Reducing food waste is essential to address global food insecurity and promote sustainability. Every year, around one-third of all food produced globally, is wasted, which is not only a significant economic loss but also has environmental consequences.

Reducing food waste can be done at various stages of the food supply chain, from production to consumption. This can include improving storage and transport, reducing overproduction, and educating consumers on food waste reduction strategies.

At Hilton Tangier City Center to minimize food waste as much as possible, in certain recipes, leftovers are recycled to create other dishes. For example, when making a fish tajine, the fish bones are reused to make a soup.
